Climate in India




In broad terms India experiences four seasons 

1-Winter(January-February)
2-Summer(March -May)
3-Mosoon(June-September)
4-Post-monsoon,also known as north-east monsoon in the Southern Peninsula(October-December).

However the monsoon is the main season .India experiences rain during the following monsoons .

1- South west Monsoon-

Lasts for four months ,from June to September and is known as summer monsoon .It blows from sea to land after crossing the Indian Ocean ,the Arabiam Sea and the Bay of Bengal .India receives 86 percent of the rain during South West Monsoon .

2-North East Monsoon

Lasts froms the month of November to December .It is also called Winter Monsoon and blows from land to sea .It is effective in smaller areas .Tamil Nadu,Kerela,sometimes Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka .

During the monsoon ,several regions experience rainfall above 200 cm..Assam,Meghalaya,Sikkim and West Bengal .Some areas experience lesser rainfall (below 50 cm ).Western Rajasthan ,South East Punjab,Laddakh and Southern Haryana .
